# Mixed-integer program

### From Glossary

A mixed-integer program (MIP) is a mathematical program in which some of the variables are required to be integer-valued. Historically, this term implied the mathematical program was otherwise linear, so older papers (and some recent ones) mean this, but most now refer to the following:

- MILP: Mixed integer linear program
- MINLP: Mixed integer nonlinear program
- MIQP: Mixed integer quadratic program
